       with more than half a dozen different species, pelicans are famous for their pouch, called gular, that they use to catch fish.  pelicans do not store fish in their pouch, but simply use it to catch them and tip it back to drain out water and swallow the catch immediately.  pelicans are found on many of the world's coastlines, lakes and rivers, pelicans are social birds and travel in flocks.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     did you know? it takes nearly seventy kilograms of to raise a pelican chick!
